Above the entrance door is a stained
glass window representing features
of the town and the motto
"Salus populi suprema lex est",
only readable from the inside. The pictures are of
the lighthouse (no longer standing)
and pier (now half demolished),
a boat, lion and lifeboat memorial to an
incident of 1877, with the shield and
crest of the Cliftons of Lytham Hall. This is a rare if not unique survival
from the days of the old St.Annes
Town Council. Stained glass is by Steward of Lancaster.
